Life/Health Division promises to create new technologies in the future and higher value-added materials for well-being. Recognizing the potential in this field, the Life/Health Division at KIST is committed to using bio-fusion and integrated/multidisciplinary omics technology to ensure Korea¡¯s future competitive advantage. To accomplish this, the Division is not only concentrating on core research fields, but is also focusing on projects which link and merge different fields that have relevance to specific topics. The Life/Health Division has been named a ¡°Center of Excellence¡± by consistently demonstrating scientific achievement and developing state-of-the-art products. Research projects in the Division are focused on the National Agenda projects against Low Fertility and Population Aging in Korea such as silver technology, development of cutting-edge diagnostic technology and therapeutics of human disease based on omics technology. Also the Division is studying on the development of therapeutics for brain diseases, early diagnosis devices, personalized medicine, and bionic organs. Based on this research, the office team intends to expand understanding of various biological events inside the human body and offer fundamental solutions to sociocultural problems such as human diseases and aging societies.
