President
An innovative global research institute that provides the best
solutions to the biggest questions and greatest challenges
Established in 1966 as Korea’s first government-funded research organization, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) was a powerful first step in our country's quest to build a nation powered by science and technology.
Now, KIST, the 'home of Korea's science and technology' is poised to become an innovative global research organization that answers the biggest questions and overcomes the greatest challenges with the best solutions.
Looking ahead, we will expand our outreach to embrace 'mission-driven' research that addresses problems facing our country and society, such as carbon neutrality and the rapidly aging population. To this end, we will build a convergent research environment that collaborates with other government-funded research institutes without boundaries, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit among all KIST members to openly share KIST's exceptional research outcomes with our nation's industries so that they may be more valuable and utilized.
In addition, we will take the lead in forging global partnerships by disseminating KIST's excellent science and technology resources and culture to the global community.
We ask for your continued interest in and support for KIST's new journey to pioneer a path that has never been traveled before.
President of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology
