Biomaterials Research Center
-
The Biomaterials Research Center conducts research on biomaterials for the replacement or regeneration of human tissues and organs, and biomedical engineering technology for application in disease prevention and treatment.
-
In terms of research field, the organization of this center is basically composed of an alternative research team and a regenerative research team.
The Replacement research team is working on the development of biomaterials by chemical/physical surface modifications, organic/inorganic materials for sensitive diagnosis and advanced therapy, biodegradable materials for dental and orthopedic applications. Specially, researches (or biomaterials) include drug-eluting stent (DES), biodegradable stents, implantable polymeric biomaterials, biofunctional injectable hydrogels, artificial blood vessels, biodegradable medical devices, wearable or implantable bioelectronic devices, cryo-FIB/SEM/TEM analysis, and analysis of interfaces of materials-biosystems, and so on.
-
The Regeneration research team is investigating regenerative biomaterials, and drug delivery for tissue regeneration. Specially, they are carrying out the development of functional scaffolds for regenerating tissues/organs/large-size blood vessels, osteochondral composites, peptide-gel for nano-healing, 3D stem cell mass for angiogenesis, macromolecular matrix for cell microenvironment control, growth factor delivery microcapsule, temperature-sensitive implantable hydrogels, protein delivery system, and gene delivery system.
